Who we are
Collaborative Winemaking at its Best
We believe in approaching life with creativity, passion and a sense of possibility. While we have launched a number of successful businesses over our combined careers, this is our most important one yet. Started in 2006 with the same excitement and energy we’ve brought to our other ventures, we have chosen a collaborative approach which allows us to source the best fruit each year, work with highly talented winemakers and bring you what we feel are adventurous, dynamic and fantastic Napa Valley wines.
True reflections of their terroir, our Cabernets have their legacy in Stag’s Leap and Oakville; our Pinot Noir has its home along the Silverado Trail. And our winemakers have successes throughout Napa Valley with wineries from the well known Whitehall Lane and Raymond Vineyards to a high-end family run boutique winery.
We hope you enjoy the wines as much as we have in making them.
– Diana and David Sullivan
David and Diana Sullivan, two career entrepreneurs, have built many businesses, from high tech start-ups to leadership and management consulting practices. Both have long histories with community organizations and the food industry, so it was a natural next step to combine the two and launch what is a very exciting new business: Promenade Wines. Started in 2006 with the same excitement and passion they’ve brought to their other ventures, they decided to forgo the typical purchase of a vineyard, and instead chose a more virtual and collaborative business model. They have selected two outstanding winemakers, Art and Judd Finkelstein (Art founded and ran Whitehall Lane Winery in Napa for many years). Then they sourced grapes from some of the best vineyards in Napa for their wines; Stags Leap, Oakville and Conn Valley all renowned as appellations that produce some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the world (you’ve heard of the famous Paris blind tasting in 1976, at a which nine judges awarded first place to a 1973 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet, ahead of the great growths of Bordeaux).
And viola, Promenade Wines was born! They are starting with what makes sense; Napa Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir from Napa's Milliken Creek. While making great wine is exciting enough, their other main goal is to find ways to share their results by returning some of that success to those in need. You may be familiar with the phrase, “turning water into wine”. Promenade Wines is turning “wine into water”.
The sale of every Promenade bottle will contribute to building clean, sustainable water services in Africa. After reviewing various options, Promenade has selected the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya as their first recipient. Lewa’s community programs with the wider local area have the twin objectives of wildlife conservation combined with local economic growth and poverty reduction. Through Lewa’s success in building wells and sustainable water projects, they are the perfect fit for Promenade. Promenade Wines is honored to be able to pass forward our customers’ contributions and create a collaborative gift through this endeavor. Wine into water: nothing could be more refreshing!
